Nilhts’i Ecoener wind farm project

Stephen Buffalo moderated a discussion this evening in Calgary between Evan Salter, CEO of Tano T’enneh Enterprises, the economic development corporation for the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation, and myself.



The discussion focused on the Nilhts’i Ecoener wind farm project which closed in late 2025. 



A few facts about the Project:



-The project is a 140MW wind farm project located 60 km southeast of Prince George, BC, in the territory of LTFN.

-The project is a collaborative initiative between LTFN and Ecoener, a multinational renewable energy company based in Spain.

-“Nilhts’i” means “wind” in the Carrier language, the traditional language of LTFN.

-The project secured a 30-year Electricity -Purchase Agreement with BC Hydro as part of the 2024 Call for Power.
LTFN owns a 49% equity interest in the project.

-The project is currently in the permitting, engineering and procurement phase. -Construction is expected to be completed and the project operational by 2031.
